OpenAI Signals End of ChatGPT Plugins in Favor of GPTs

In a recent move by OpenAI, the company has officially notified plugin developers about the potential discontinuation of support for ChatGPT plugins. The announcement signals a shift towards prioritizing the development and integration of GPTs within the ChatGPT framework, offering enhanced functionalities and a more user-friendly approach.

An email sent to plugin developers highlighted the similarities between GPTs and plugins, citing the versatility of GPTs in utilizing actions to call APIs, offering custom instructions, and integrating features like DALL-E. Additionally, OpenAI teased the imminent launch of the GPT Store in the early months of the upcoming year, further emphasizing the transition towards GPT-based functionalities.
