Google has released Veo 3.1, a new version of its AI video model, and major updates to Flow, its filmmaking platform powered by Veo. The rollout adds audio generation, precise editing tools, and improved realism across all features.
Now, Flow can generate audio for every feature. Whether you’re turning images into a clip, connecting two frames, or extending a scene, you’ll get matching sound that fits the mood. It’s a big step toward making AI videos feel complete, not silent.
You can also edit scenes directly inside Flow. New tools make editing more flexible. Insert allows users to add new elements — characters, objects, or visual details — and the AI handles lighting and shadows automatically. A new removal tool is coming soon, so you can take out unwanted objects and have Flow fill in the background cleanly.
Behind the scenes, Veo 3.1 improves prompt accuracy and texture detail, making videos look more realistic and consistent. The model is also available through the Gemini API and Vertex AI, so developers can use the same tech in their own apps.
“Great ideas don’t stop at the first take,” Google’s team wrote in the announcement. The model also adds richer sound design and more narrative control when generating video from still images.
