$500B AI Data Center Project Starts in the U.S.
OpenAI and SoftBank have teamed up to launch The Stargate Project, a $500 billion investment in AI infrastructure across the United States. Over the next four years, this initiative will secure America’s leadership in AI, create hundreds of thousands of jobs, and deliver massive economic and technological benefits worldwide.
Masayoshi Son will serve as chairman of Stargate, with SoftBank taking financial responsibility and OpenAI leading operations.

According to OpenAI, the statement highlights a close collaboration between Oracle, NVIDIA, and OpenAI to design, build, and operate this revolutionary computing infrastructure. While OpenAI continues its partnership with Microsoft, there are updates to their arrangement.
Microsoft retains rights to OpenAI’s intellectual property, revenue-sharing agreements, and exclusivity on OpenAI APIs through 2030. OpenAI has committed to a major expansion of its use of Azure, which will support all OpenAI products and AI training efforts. Microsoft now holds a right of first refusal for OpenAI’s future capacity-building efforts.
